Double Cross Trophy
Double Cross Trophy

The Double Cross Trophy was presented to the 8.30 golf club by John Cross in 1992.

It is presented annually for achieving the season’s biggest reduction in 8.30 handicap.

It is a deliberate “Catch-22” trophy. That is, it is a logical paradox arising from the situation in which a member winning
it will have repeatedly reduced his chance of winning the major 830 trophy – the John Boyd Trophy – as the multiple handicap reductions gained will have made it harder to continue to score well. Winning both trophies in the same year is therefore a very great achievement.
